In this tutorial, we build an advanced computer-use agent from scratch that can reason, plan, and perform virtual actions using a local open-weight model. We create a miniature simulated desktop, equip it with a tool interface, and design an intelligent agent that can analyze its environment, decide on actions like clicking or typing, and execute them step by step. By the end, we see how the agent interprets goals such as opening emails or taking notes, demonstrating how a local language model can mimic interactive reasoning and task execution. However, Roger Grimes, data-driven defense CISO advisor at KnowBe4, said it’s “far from” the oddest phishing lure he’s seen; social engineering is involved in up to 90% of all successful hacks, he said in an email. “In this case, the social engineering hack was in convincing the user to download malware,” he said. “That’s a tricky one to prevent. I always tell people to learn the following and practice it religiously: If you receive an unexpected message asking you to do something you’ve never done before, at least for that sender, research the request using known trusted methods before performing.…

From handcrafted partyware to science-backed pet supplements, few firms look less alike than Meri Meri and PetLab Co. Yet they share a single, telling decision that has transformed how they work: both built their next phase of growth on Oracle NetSuite. In separate conversations, Meri Meri’s managing director, Paul Cripps, and PetLab Co.’s chief financial officer, Tony Morreale, described, in unvarnished terms, what happens when a high-growth company ditches a patchwork of systems for a cloud ERP that acts as the business’s command centre. Cripps arrived at Meri Meri—a San Francisco-registered, UK-run design house whose seasonal launches light up kitchen…

Every creative studio has its weird internal rituals. Ours? A challenge we call “12 Pens in 12 Months” — one experiment each month, no rules, no clients, just play. Somewhere between caffeine and chaos, one of our devs made this — a wavy, hypnotic, jelly-like motion effect that instantly became the team’s favorite. We didn’t plan to make anything “serious”, but people started asking how it works, and here we are — writing about it on Codrops! The Concept The idea started simple: What if we could make motion that feels organic — not mechanical, not linear, but something that…

Comets Lemmon and SWAN are still in binocular range, but they have probably passed their peak brightnesses. Both are nicely placed in the evening sky right after the end of twilight (for mid-northern latitudes). SWAN this week moves from southern Aquila into western Aquarius: nicely high in the south after nightfall, but likely to be only 7th magnitude. Lemmon this week will probably still be 5th or 6th magnitude this week as it across Serpens Caput, which is lower in the west at the end of twilight. Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon on the evening of October 21st, as imaged by…
