What is patient privacy for? The Hippocratic Oath, thought to be one of the earliest and most widely known medical ethics texts in the world, reads: “Whatever I see or hear in the lives of my patients, whether in connection with my professional practice or not, which ought not to be spoken of outside, I will keep secret, as considering all such things to be private.” As privacy becomes increasingly scarce in the age of data-hungry algorithms and cyberattacks, medicine is one of the few remaining domains where confidentiality remains central to practice, enabling patients to trust their physicians with sensitive…

“Open WebUI stores the JWT token in localStorage,” Cato researchers said in a blog post. “Any script running on the page can access it. Tokens are long-lived by default, lack HttpOnly, and are cross-tab. Escalating to Remote Code Execution The risk doesn’t stop at account takeover. If the compromised account has workspace.tools permissions, attackers can leverage that session token to push authenticated Python code…

The Flow Foundation on Tuesday published a technical post-mortem detailing a protocol-level exploit that occurred on Dec. 27, when an attacker was able to counterfeit tokens on the network, resulting in about $3.9 million in confirmed losses before the exploit was contained.According to the report, the attacker exploited a flaw in Flow’s Cadence runtime that allowed certain assets to be duplicated rather than minted, bypassing supply controls without accessing or draining existing user balances. Validators coordinated a network halt within six hours of the first malicious transaction, while exchange partners froze most counterfeit assets before they could be sold.Flow said…

FURTHER MONETARY POLICY easing might come as early as the Monetary Board’s first meeting for 2026 amid subdued inflation and dismal economic growth last year, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said.  Asked about the likelihood of a February cut, BSP Governor Eli M. Remolona, Jr. said: “(It’s) on the table. Unlikely pero puwede naman (but we could deliver it).” Mr. Remolona said that the latest December inflation print of 1.8% is a “reasonably low rate,” even as it quickened from 1.5% in November. Year on year, it slowed from 2.9% in December 2024. Philippine economic growth in 2025 also…

It seems that the U.S. Marshall Service (USMS) has sold the $6.3 million worth of bitcoin that Samourai Wallet developers Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill paid the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) as a fee that was part of their guilty plea. In doing so, it has potentially violated Executive Order (EO) 14233, which mandates that bitcoin acquired via criminal or civil asset forfeiture proceedings should be held as part of the United States’ Strategy Bitcoin Reserve (SBR). If the Southern District of New York (SDNY), the federal judicial district in which the Samourai case was to be tried,…
