What happens when you die…and you’re a cryptocurrency? Because deaths of this sort have been happening in record numbers lately. The most famous death of a cryptocurrency is probably TerraUSD which, along with sister token Luna, plunged in value from its $1 peg to 14 cents over the course of one chaotic week, and then kept dropping to about 2 cents, where it has mostly stayed ever since. This is how currencies die. TerraUSD was renamed USTC, and trades have happened from time to time for whatever reason at various tiny fractions of a dollar. Nothing is truly worth nothing, and…
An update as promised: all systems are now ‘Go’ on the technical side (pun intended) and we intend to release Frontier this week. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on my previous blog post. What became apparent is that prior to the big day, many of you wanted to know more about what the sequence of events would exactly be, and how to prepare your machine for the release. A transparent and open release Frontier users will need to first generate, then load the Genesis block into their Ethereum client. The Genesis block is pretty much a database file:…
Bitcoin mining involves verifying transactions and introducing new Bitcoins into circulation. It refers to the process by which miners compete to solve cryptographic puzzles to add new blocks to the Bitcoin network. In this article, we’ll explain the concept of Bitcoin mining, including its history, benefits, risks, and environmental impacts. We’ll also provide insights into how mining works and the costs involved. What is Bitcoin Mining?Bitcoin(BTC) is the pioneer digital currency that leverages blockchain technology for peer-to-peer transactions. Its underlying blockchain follows a proof-of-work (PoW) consensus algorithm, which harnesses the mining process to verify transactions and secure the network. Bitcoin mining is a…
Against that backdrop, Europe’s reliance on American-made AI begins to look more and more like a liability. In a worst case scenario, though experts consider the possibility remote, the US could choose to withhold access to AI services and crucial digital infrastructure. More plausibly, the Trump administration could use Europe’s dependence as leverage as the two sides continue to iron out a trade deal. “That dependency is a liability in any negotiation—and we are going to be negotiating increasingly with the US,” says Taddeo. The European Commission, White House, and UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology did not respond to…
The massive scandal around welfare fraud in Minnesota became a big story the same way the character Mike Campbell in The Sun Also Rises describes going bankrupt: "gradually and then suddenly." Federal prosecutors first filed criminal charges in 2022 against the fraudsters at a Minnesota nonprofit called Feeding Our Future, who stole hundreds of millions of dollars while supposedly serving meals to low-income children and adults. Nearly 80 people have already been convicted or pleaded guilty, and more are expected. But only in recent months has this case-which the lead prosecutor has described…
Nous Research Releases NousCoder-14B: A Competitive Olympiad Programming Model Post-Trained on Qwen3-14B via Reinforcement Learning
Nous Research has introduced NousCoder-14B, a competitive olympiad programming model that is post trained on Qwen3-14B using reinforcement learning (RL) with verifiable rewards. On the LiveCodeBench v6 benchmark, which covers problems from 08/01/2024 to 05/01/2025, the model reaches a Pass@1 accuracy of 67.87 percent. This is 7.08 percentage points higher than the Qwen3-14B baseline of 60.79 percent on the same benchmark. The research team trained the model on 24k verifiable coding problems using 48 B200 GPUs over 4 days, and released the weights under the Apache 2.0 license on Hugging Face. https://nousresearch.com/nouscoder-14b-a-competitive-olympiad-programming-model/ Benchmark focus and what Pass@1 means LiveCodeBench v6…
Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure Bitcoin’s network power dipped this week, falling back under the one-zettahash mark after several months above it. Reports show the seven-day average hashrate near 993 EH/s, a clear pullback from last year’s highs. Hunger For Power Reports say big AI data centers are buying long-term power contracts and willing to pay more for steady, round-the-clock electricity, pushing some miners to cut or shift operations. This competition has changed who gets the cheapest power on the grid. Some publicly traded miners are closing deals to lease space to…
“Attackers don’t need to know you’re using it. They just have to poke the system to find out. Fundamentally, organizations keep legacy protocols active not because they want to, but because they fear breaking a mission-critical legacy app,” said Finn. Despite Microsoft recommending that organizations upgrade to NTLMv2 and Kerberos for more than two decades, it appears not everyone got the memo. “In crypto terms, NTLMv1 isn’t just old, it’s archaeological,” said Rob Anderson, head of reactive consulting services at Reliance Cyber. “NTLMv1 is still enabled, not because it is needed today, but because it was needed once, and nobody is…
The Rip Fans Will Love Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Gritty Action Thriller Streaming On Netflix
Open Road Films Everyone loves a good Matt Damon/Ben Affleck team-up, which is part of why “The Rip” was the first must-watch Netflix movie of 2026. But the film had more going for it than a pair of best friends who also happen to be two of the biggest stars in the world. Its gritty crime drama action might have been too unrelentingly grim for some, but the film maintained a consistent tone throughout and immersed us in the world of a Tactical Narcotics Team and the drug dealers with…
Gold and silver prices surged to fresh record highs after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose new tariffs on a group of European countries opposing his proposed takeover of Greenland, triggering a renewed rush into safe-haven assets. Gold climbed to a peak of $4,689.39 (£3,499) an ounce on Monday, while silver touched $94.08 an ounce, as investors sought protection from escalating geopolitical and trade tensions. Precious metals are traditionally viewed as a store of value during periods of uncertainty, and both have already enjoyed a strong rally over the past year. The move came after Trump announced that a…
