Malvah is a creative studio based in Cape Town, South Africa, working globally across branding, digital design, and immersive web experiences. Founded in 2018 and now located in central Cape Town, the studio began life tucked away behind a skate park and has since evolved into a close-knit team of curious creatives focused on building meaningful brand experiences.
In 2026, the studio was recognised by Awwwards as Studio of the Year.
At Malvah, we believe the best brands feel confident, human, and intentional. Their design and story work together, building trust and desire in equal measure. Our work spans four core offerings: branding, UX/UI design, 3D and motion, and website development. Across each, our goal is the same â to craft distinctive brand worlds and digital experiences that feel considered and intentional.Â
Weâre small by design, collaborative by nature, and obsessed with detail. We partner with teams who care deeply about what theyâre building and why, creating work that doesnât just look good, but makes people feel something.

Our Journey
Founded by Tyrone and Tim in 2018, the studio grew from a shared frustration with surface-level design and a desire to build work with more depth, intention, and soul. With backgrounds in creative direction, design, and digital craft, they werenât chasing a specific style or niche.
Over time, word-of-mouth carried us further than any pitch deck could. We leaned into branding-first digital work, embraced motion and emerging technologies, and chose to grow slowly rather than scale for the sake of it.
Showcase / Recognition
Studio of the Year 2025 (Awwwards)
Malvah was recognised by Awwwards as Studio of the Year 2025, reflecting the craft and collaboration behind our work.
Below are a few projects that represent our approach to digital experiences.
Seventeen Agency
What it was / who it was for
A brand-led website for Seventeen, a creative agency working across culture, sport, and storytelling. The site needed to reflect their clarity of thinking while leaving room for personality and confidence.
Achievements
- Awwwards â Site of the Day
Background story & takeaways
This project was about simplicity. Rather than over-designing, we focused on rhythm, typography, and pacing, letting the work and the words breathe. It reminded us that confidence doesnât need decoration. Sometimes the most powerful move is knowing what not to add.
KODE Immersive
What it was / who it was for
An experimental digital experience exploring immersive storytelling through AR, VR, and real-time 3D. KODE wasnât a traditional client project â it was a collaborative playground.
Achievements
- Awwwards â Site of the Day
- Awwwards â Developer Award
Background story & takeaways
KODE pushed us far outside conventional web thinking. It asked us to balance emotion, performance, and experimentation, and to accept that not everything needs to be expected.Â
BitterCreek
What it was / who it was for
A bold, immersive website for BitterCreek, a London-based production company with a strong visual identity and an unapologetic point of view.
Achievements
- Awwwards â Site of the Day
- Awwwards â Developer Award
Background story & takeaways
This project was all about energy. From motion to interaction, we leaned into a sense of controlled chaos by making the site feel alive without becoming overwhelming. BitterCreek reminded us that strong brands benefit from digital experiences that match their attitude.
dhk Architects
What it was / who it was for
A refined website for dhk Architects, one of Africaâs leading architectural practices. The goal was to showcase complex, large-scale projects with clarity and elegance.
Achievements
- Awwwards â Site of the Day
Background story & takeaways
Architecture and digital design share a lot of DNA â structure, hierarchy, and intention. This project challenged us to step back and let the work speak. Our role became one of quiet framing, ensuring the site felt timeless rather than trend-driven. A reminder that great design often comes from discipline, not excess.
Hark Capital
What it was / who it was for
A digital presence for Hark Capital, an investment firm focused on long-term value and considered growth. The site needed to feel credible and modern, without falling into financial clichés.
Background story & takeaways
Hark Capital was about trust. We focused on clarity, tone, and structure by stripping back unnecessary complexity and designing an experience that felt calm and assured. It reinforced our belief that seriousness doesnât have to feel cold, and that simplicity can still carry depth.
M&C Saatchi Abel
What it was / who it was for
A digital experience for M&C Saatchi Abel that reflected the agencyâs creative reputation while pushing into more experimental territory online.
AchievementsÂ
- Awwwards â Site of the Day
- Awwwards â Developer Award
Background story & takeaways
Working with a globally recognised agency came with a shared ambition to do something braver than expected. This project gave us room to explore interaction and motion in a way that felt expressive yet purposeful. It reminded us that even established brands benefit from moments of play and risk.
Culture & Team
Our culture is built on trust, curiosity, and collaboration.
Weâre a small, close-knit team of designers, creative directors, and motion artists who collaborate openly and honestly. Thereâs no hierarchy of âbig ideasâ. We believe that good thinking can come from anyone, anywhere.Â
Our way of working is flexible but intentional. We prioritise depth over volume, long-term relationships over quick wins, and honest conversations over polished presentations. Internally, we share references obsessively, celebrate small wins, and make space for learning, whether thatâs new tools or simply new ways of seeing.
Outside of work, youâll find us bonded by coffee, shared values, curious interests, and a mutual appreciation for good design and balanced lifestyles.
Malvah is forever in creative evolution.
