Welcome to the third installment of eth2 quick update. tldr; Harden fork choice defences in response to auditsIntroducing challenges.ethereum.orgHerumi grant for a super-fast BLS implementation Fork choice defenses This week, we hardened the defenses of the Phase 0 fork choice rule. Much of our time is spent analyzing eth2 to ensure that the system can remain stable even under adverse conditions (e.g. a large attacker, a major network outage or partition, etc). With any large engineering project, the aim is to find as many potential issues and harden against these scenarios prior to release. This is why we’ve engaged with…

Late in 2024, a prophetic AI Agent on X named Truth Terminal dropped a full Fartcoin blueprint that included an Initial Fart Offering, and more. Late in 2024, a prophetic AI Agent on X named Truth Terminal dropped a full Fartcoin blueprint that included an Initial Fart Offering, tokenomics, a DeFi ecosystem, community-building strategy and an on-chain gas fee structure that literally toots with every transfer. Within days, the degens made it real, minting Fartcoin on Solana, and crowning themselves the Stink Marines. A few weeks later Fartcoinâs cap rocketed past 1 billion dollars, almost catching the AIâs earlier Franken…
I found the human-AI couples by posting in relevant Reddit communities. My initial outreach hadnât gone well. Some of the Redditors were convinced I was going to present them as weirdos. My intentions were almost the opposite. I grew interested in human-AI romantic relationships precisely because I believe they will soon be commonplace. Replika, one of the better-known apps Americans turn to for AI romance, says it has signed up more than 35 million users since its launch in 2017, and Replika is only one of dozens of options. A recent survey by researchers at Brigham Young University found that…

The title is the name of a small desert town in New Mexico where the sheriff, Joaquin Phoenix, is at loggerheads with the business-minded mayor, Pedro Pascal. Polaris-4B and Polaris-7B: Post-Training Reinforcement Learning for Efficient Math and Logic Reasoning
The Rising Need for Scalable Reasoning Models in Machine Intelligence Advanced reasoning models are at the frontier of machine intelligence, especially in domains like math problem-solving and symbolic reasoning. These models are designed to perform multi-step calculations and logical deductions, often generating solutions that mirror human reasoning processes. Reinforcement learning techniques are used to improve accuracy after pretraining; however, scaling these methods while retaining efficiency remains a complex challenge. As demand increases for smaller, more resource-efficient models that still exhibit high reasoning capability, researchers are now turning to strategies that address data quality, exploration methods, and long-context generalization. Challenges in…
Some Brother printers have a remote code execution vulnerability, and they canât fix it
Two others, CVE-2024-51980 and CVE-2024-51981, enable server-side request forgery (SSRF), allowing printers to send crafted requests into internal networks they shouldnât be talking to. In corporate environments, this could let attackers probe internal services, bypass access controls, or pivot deeper into the network. Finally, CVE-2024-51984 exposes plaintext credentials for services such as LDAP or FTP to authenticated users, offering a potential jump-off point for wider compromise. In addition to 689 models of Brother printers, scanners, and label makers, some of the vulnerabilities affect 46 Fujifilm models, 5 from Ricoh, 2 from Toshiba Tec, and 6 from Konica Minolta. Except for…
Ever wondered if you could turn back time? While we canât literally stop the clock, there is a way that we can slow down aging. And the good news is that doing everyday, simple habits can make a big positive impact. I keep track of my health through lab testing with Function Health. One test I recently took with them gave me a fascinating look into something called biological age. As it turns out, itâs very different from your actual age in years. My chronological age is 38, but my biological age came back as 21.7. And of course, the…
